However, when I hear this phrase, I will think about Manchester United. For me, this really is love at first sight. When I first saw them play, I was eating dinner at my grandmother's place. I still remember that they were playing Liverpool at that time. I was immediately mesmerised by the way Manchester United played. Their style of playing was absoluately beautiful. Even though Manchester United lost that night, I decided to support them. One very good example is Africa. In Africa, many people are dying from hunger and the government is doing either very little or absolutely nothing. Some officials may argue that the poverty in Africa is due to natural disasters, but the truth is that natural disasters are only a small part of the reason why Africa in wallowing in poverty. The main reason is that the government is corrupted. Singapore is a small country with no natural resources and yet we are now a prosperous country. On the other hand we have Africa, a large country with plenty of natural resources such as diamonds and oil and yet they are stuck in a vicious cycle of poverty. Why is this so? This is because the government is corrupted.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;2) Another reason is that the financial aid meant for the people goes into the government's pocket. People around the world donate millions, maybe even billions of dollars to the people in Africa, yet their lives have not improved. Why is this so? This is because at least 90% of the money goes into the pockets of corrupted officials and only 10% of the money goes to the people.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There is a limit to which we can help these people. He feared neither the government nor death. He was a brave man, a pastor, a leader, a freedom fighter and a hero, in the hearts of the blacks. He was also the youngest man to be awarded the Nobel prize for his peacemaking efforts at the age of 35. This speaks volumes of his character and abilities, and that was one of the reasons why he shot to fame. King organized and led marches for blacks' right to vote, desegregation, labor rights and other basic civil rights. Most of these rights were successfully enacted into United States law with the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. King was instrumental in the founding of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) in 1957, a group created to harness the moral authority and organizing power of black churches to conduct non-violent protests in the service of civil rights reform. King continued to dominate the organization. King was an adherent of the philosophies of nonviolent civil disobedience used successfully in India by Mohandas "Mahatma" Gandhi, and he applied this philosophy to the protests organized by the SCLC. In 1959, he wrote The Measure of A Man, from which the piece What is Man?, an attempt to sketch the optimal political, social, and economic structure of society, is derived. his face is set to be put on pennies and dimes in the USA from 2010 onwards, but abraham lincoln's face will still remain.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;MOST WELL-KNOWN THING ABOUT HIM?&lt;br /&gt;King's most influential and well-known public address is the "I Have A Dream" speech, delivered on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. in 1963 it really made people stop and thought about it, that particular speech that touched on various social issues, left a great impression on many, blacks and whites alike.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;WHAT CRAZY THING DID HE DO?&lt;br /&gt;he stood up for the blacks and was determined to achieve equal standings for blacks. it was crazy because he himself was a black and at that time, blacks were considered inferior to whites. this idea of giving these so called 'social outcasts' equal rights was ridiculous at that time and it was an almost impossible goal to achieve. despite the fact that he would most likely be arrested and maybe even put to death, but he was undaunted and held on to his dreams and beliefs.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;DO WE THINK HE'S A GENIUS?&lt;br /&gt;yes. i think it's a very remarkable feat that he has managed to accomplish as his dream was quite impossible at that time. he was able to change to lives of many blacks in the USA by bringing about changes in the governing body by his sheer will and determination. we truly admire his confidence and bravery, resilience, as well as his unwavering perseverence and ability to overcome obstacles.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbUtL_0vAJk&amp;eurl"&gt;http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbUtL_0vAJk&amp;amp;eurl&lt;/a&gt;=&lt;br /&gt;URL FOR 'I HAVE A DREAM'&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Video and Text of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s"I Have a Dream" SpeechAug. 28, 1963&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;(transcribed directly from the video above)&lt;br /&gt;I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation.&lt;br /&gt;Five score years ago, a great American, in whose symbolic shadow we stand today, signed the Emancipation Proclamation. This momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of Negro slaves, who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice. It came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of their captivity. But one hundred years later, the Negro still is not free. One hundred years later, the life of the Negro is still sadly crippled by the manacle of segregation and the chains of discrimination.&lt;br /&gt;One hundred years later, the Negro lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity. We refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation. There are those who are asking the devotees of civil rights, "When will you be satisfied?" We can never be satisfied as long as the Negro is the victim of the unspeakable horrors of police brutality.&lt;br /&gt;We can never be satisfied as long as our bodies, heavy with the fatigue of travel, cannot gain lodging in the motels of the highways and the hotels of the cities.&lt;br /&gt;We cannot be satisfied as long as the Negro's basic mobility is from a smaller ghetto to a larger one.&lt;br /&gt;We can never be satisfied as long as our children are stripped of their selfhood and robbed of their dignity by signs stating "for white only."&lt;br /&gt;We cannot be satisfied as long as a Negro in Mississippi cannot vote and a Negro in New York believes he has nothing for which to vote.&lt;br /&gt;No, no we are not satisfied and we will not be satisfied until justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream.&lt;br /&gt;I am not unmindful that some of you have come here out of your trials and tribulations. Some of you have come fresh from narrow jail cells. Some of you have come from areas where your quest for freedom left you battered by the storms of persecutions and staggered by the winds of police brutality.&lt;br /&gt;You have been the veterans of creative suffering. Continue to work with the faith that unearned suffering is redemptive.&lt;br /&gt;Go back to Mississippi, go back to Alabama, go back to South Carolina go back to Georgia, go back to Louisiana, go back to the slums and ghettos of our northern cities, knowing that somehow this situation can and will be changed.&lt;br /&gt;Let us not wallow in the valley of despair. I say to you today, my friends, so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow. I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.&lt;br /&gt;I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up... live out the true meaning of its creed. So let freedom ring from the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire. As the murderer has taken away somebody's life, his or her life should be taken away from him or her. Many people felt that, Nguyen Tuong Van, the Australian who was hung in Singapore for smuggling drugs, should not have been hung.Though I sympathise with him as he was trying to help his brother pay off his debts, I felt that he should have been hung. Firstly, if he was pardoned, many drug syndicates will get people whose relatives are in debts to sumggle drugs as these people can get away with being hung by claiming to be helping their family and stating Nguyen as an example had he been pardoned. This will lead to an increase in people trying to smuggle drugs. People who smuggle drugs should be hung as drug itself is a murderer, murdering a lot of people. People who smuggle drugs are as good as their "accomplice". When the match ended, I felt that Portsmouth were really lucky. Even though Manchester United won 2-1, it should really have been 4-1. From a corner, Nemanja Vidic directed a header towards the Portsmouth goal and the ball went over the line by a FOOT and the refeere did NOT even spot it and waved play on instead. They must have been blind, the refeere and linesman. The next one was when Gary Neville flicked the ball to Henrik Larsson and he scored with a sweet volley but was INCORRECTLY ruled offside when he was CLEARLY onside. The refeere and his linesmen should all be demoted and they are rather lucky that Manchester United won due to the brilliance of Wayne Rooney. The first goal Rooney scored, he capped off a good move initiated by Larsson. The second one was sheer brilliance. Collecting the ball from 25 yards out, he took two touches and looked like he was going to blast the ball towards goal when he spotted David James too far off his line and chipped the ball towards goal instead and scored. It was a magnificent goal, beautifully taken and scored.
